hi all,

I have a problem as follows:
After I restared my comp yesterday, win 7 loads up the blue-green screen with leafs, and right after that, hangs on the black screen with visible cursor.i'm only able to move it then.
ctr+alt+del is not working.

What strange, in the safe mode all works well.
I tried 'last known config' - didn't work.
I tried system restore - same thing.
I tried to repair system with the 'repair tool' from the cd - didn't recognize any problems.

My question - is it possible to re-place system files, or do un upgrade win 7 to win 7 but keeping all my programs installed?
I really do not want to reinstall them, it would last 3 days.

In old xp, there was an option to hit 'r' on the second question while installing from cd, and we could have everything still installed, but system files replaced.

my system win 7 64 bit ult.

thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "repair tool," but there should be a repair installation option available that will be your last resort before needing to wipe and reinstall the operating system.

hi again,

Thanks for all replies and help.
Unfortunatelly none of these works.
I tried repair, I tried to seek for viruses, I tried to sfc /scannow.

I think that the only solution is to reinstall..
And here have another question to You guys - what should I do to avoid these problems in future? Reinstall, then install all, most important programs and make an image copy of my system to be able to have everything back when I want ?
have You any suggestions here?

I also thought that in future I could install system on one partition, and programs on another.
But as far as I know, all programs have their files also placed somewhere in system partition, so while the system is damaged and needs to be replaced, I would also erase those files needed for programs to work, am I right ?

p.s. i'm still using safe mode, and it works fine ;)

thanks for help!

hi again,

Two days ago, right after posting last message to You guys, I had to leave for whole weekend, but just just just before setting off, I tried for the last time to load win 7 in safe mode.
I did two things . I uninstalled Registry mechanic ( I recalled that before this whole mess with win 7 I was trying to compress the registry to fasten the computer), and also I uninstalled Avast.
Last restart and...

The win 7 loaded perfectly, and everything worked smooth like from the begining!!
So I left for weekend with big smile on my face, and here I'm to inform You about this miracle.

The reason was not Registry Mechanic..The reason was AVAST.
I know this, cause I installed it again, restared win 7 and the black screen came again.

It's really strange. I've always used avast and never had any problems, I was really satisfied with it, but what now..?
Any suggestions from You guys in this situation?
It's rather not normal, that antivirus prevents the system from loading..

thanks!!

Good that you found something. Doubt if it is Avast! itself, lots of good experiences here too... but you never know. It is more likely that something, a choice you inadvertently made or whatever... makes Avast block something it should not... Hard to say from here. As an alternative try MSE...

yes, You're probably right but where and how should I look for the problem?..

The best way... takes some time but then you can see what happens... I think is to set Avast to ASK you for each thing it wants to block in its shields.
See expert settings in each shield to choose that in the button of the action you want it to take...I'd post a snip but it would be in Dutch.....

Using Registry cleaners other than CCleaner or tweaking suites like Registry Mechanic will always mess up Win7.

If you have a restore point before you tried compressing your registry (Hello?) please use it now.

Better yet, follow these tips to get a perfect reinstall then save a Win7 Backup Image to fall back upon if you ever get tweaky again: Reinstalling Windows 7 .
