Ok this may sound strange but what can you expect if you try and install a Windows 7 application with hardware and drivers on a Windows xp OS. I am looking for technical data on this scenario not just that it will not work.
I have no idea what you mean by "install a Windows 7 application with hardware and drivers". Are you writing of installing something like a video capture card, with specialized hardware, drivers, and software to use them?
It is a voice recorder that the software is supposed to be Win7 and it has two USB drivers that need to be installed. It also have a devise the would connect between the USB and the telephone. What I am worried about is a possible BSOD
Chances are if it's not compatible with XP it won't install anyway. Sounds like a good science experiment.
Does the recorder software have a label which says it is only compatible with Win7?

I would read the minimum system requirements for the software and the hardware too. It should tell you something about whether it will work on XP or not.
