Hey everybody I been toying with the Idea of wiping my aluminum iMac and installing Windows7 as its only OS. It is a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, so it is not one of the newest. I bought this machine a few years ago, and since then I have come to use Windows7 and like it alot. OSX Lion is coming out this spring, but I am not interested in upgrading to it. I have been moving back toward Windows based computing for awhile now. Some friends of mine who are Mac fans, think I have lost my mind, but I am thinking that Windows7 and Windows8 should run really well. Anybody heard of other people installing Windows on a mac as its only OS. I know it runs very well on my Lenovo Laptop. Any hints or ideas or thought are welcome.

Thanks

Hello there, um... why would you want to install Windows 7 on an iMac without using Boot Camp? i mean, is not that it won't run OK, but if you have an iMac it's because you actually USE the Mac OS X  i don't see the point of having a +1000$ Apple Computer and not having its OS.

It'll run just fine, but personally, i'd install it with Boot Camp to have dual boot (Mac OS X / Windows 7), it wouldn't hurt your feelings or pocket or nothing.. and you'd still have the best of both worlds :geek:

My .02 cents!
