Installing Windows 7 64bit on Adatpec 6405 Raid Error (0x80300024)

I'm at a total loss here.

Recently I decided to jump to a 64 bit OS as my main OS on my 2 Corsair SSDs in Raid 0.

I had a backup OS running 64 bit on my 90GB Corsair.

When I decided to take the plunge I booted up on the Windows 7 64 bit disk (yes its completely legit) and got to screen to load on the proper drive.

I had to load the drivers for the Adaptec card twice for some reason but it did see the drives. However I received the message that it could not install on those drives giving me the message Error (0x80300024).

I tried to load a fresh OS on the single corsair (my backup) and it failed as well so I rebooted, went back in and after changing the boot order got the single drive running off the internal SATA on the motherboard to load. However, no matter how many times I try or how many different drivers I use I cannot get windows to load an OS on my Raid 0 on the Adaptec card. I even broke the raid and created it again on the Adaptec card and it did nothing. Right now the only OS thats in use is my backup corsair. I really want dual boot in case I run into any issues but for the life of me I don't know what to try anymore.

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Win7 doesn't much like RAID0 which is not redundant and risks loss of everything if you lose a single HD.

Better to install to one HD and use built-in backup imaging to store an image as well as other backup and files on the other drive. Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

I completely agree but SSDs were so expensive at the time and its really only my OS not my backup files I decided to risk it for more space.

Thanks I'll look into that. Just doesn't make sense though since I was able to install a 32 bit version to that same raid 0 about a year ago.

I went out today and bought an Intel 520 series and yanked that stupid Corsair Force out and am running on that now but I really would like to solve the mystery why windows has such a problem installing to that raid 0.

I did notice something interesting. I'm running an ASUS board with Award bios and for some reason when I'm selecting the boot device order if I dont choose the Intel SSD as the first drive under Hard Disk Drives it will also refuse to load windows 7 on it. Only if I have it selected first will it allow the install. I thought the reverse would work to install on the Raid 0 but it still refused. I'm just puzzled on why the bios is so finicky that it must have the drive you want to install to as the primary or it refuses to install or even allow you to select it under the boot sequence.

ie as in the pic, since the RAID 0 is second on the list, I couldn't even add it to the boot order even as second, third etc. Only if it was primary on that choice could I add it.

Is this a board issue?

You always want only the target HD plugged in during install for multiple reasons including apparently this one.

So not being able to see the other drives for the boot sequence except for the primary is normal?

Even so when I selected the raid as primary it still would not install.
