Solved Installing windows 7 after wiping hard drive?

Oh sorry didn't notice that. Had a quick read at it - so once I run the Diskpart Clean All - do I still need to reinstall win 7? It just says to make a new partition ? Sorry I don't any of this stuff lol

Since you apparently can't interact with the steps I gave you to determine if the disks you have are Win7 installation media or Factory Recovery media I would either 1) run Recovery from its onboard partition following the steps in Manual found on the model's Support Downloads webpage, or 2) do a Clean Reinstall following http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 from the top inserting Diskpart command during the actual install.

When you run Recovery it will overwrite everything if you choose that option. Otherwise you'd need to wipe the disk first and rely on the Recovery disks you have. But since you didn't answer my question I have no idea what disks you have.

6 discs - 1st one says "Recovery Media" then subsequent ones after that labelled in order. Final one says "drivers". Does that answer your question?

Wipe the hard drive first preferably to delete all the data first.

Just the OS installed - well it doesn't bother me since I'm selling it on - but just the OS will do.

Then since it sounds like you have Recovery disks you'll need to make Win7 DVD or flash stick provided in Clean Reinstall Windows 7. You need it for wiping the drive and also may need it if the Recovery Disks fail

Boot the Win 7 disk or stick by tapping the F12 key at boot, choosing correct device to boot. At first screen after it loads press Shift +F10 to open Command prompt to run Diskpart Clean All Command

Remove disk, put first Recovery disk in drive, reboot and tap F12 key again to boot disk if it doesn't auto start. Follow prompts on screen to recover to factory condition

So I downloaded the windows 7 iso image but whatever programme I use it tells me it's not a valid ISO or it doesn't pick it up ?

I've tried Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool, Infrared Recorder and BurnAware.

Is the file corrupt or is there something else I've to do?

Download Win7 Home Premium x64 SP1 English Official ISO download making sure it completes download and is correct size 3.09 gb, burn to new DVD or flash stick with Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool.

Reboot PC and tap the F12 key, select DVD drive or flash stick, let files load, at first screen press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt. Type:

Diskpart
List disk
Select disk # (replace # sign with disk # you know for sure is Win7 hard drive)
Clean
Exit.

Now close Command Box, X out of Installation disk, replace Win7 disk with first Recovery Disk in tray, reboot tapping F12 key to boot disk.

So I wiped the entire drive clean with no problems but now the problem occurs when I try and reinstall Windows 7!

I burned the disk using ImgBurner - and stick in the disc, it loads fine to the setup but then it comes up with an error message saying "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" - I have no idea what to do now! I have a disc with the drives on there but it keeps saying "no drivers present"?!

Help?!

go to search by the start button, type in device manager. In DM look for any very small yellow arrows or pyramids. Those arrows indicate that a driver needs updating; update from there. Although not the best way, it should work and it is the easiest method.
In device manger click on the small arrow, then click the next view. Then click update.

I can't do that. When I press the button "install now" that error message comes up. It won't install Windows 7 at all.

The iso file was not burned properly.

Use this program at the slowest possible burn speed.

A clean install is not going to hide your data any better then a factory restore, so if you`ve ran Dban or run Cleanall, I would just use your recovery discs you first made and be done with it.

The error always means a bad installer. I agree you should try the Recovery disks since you have them and plan to sell the PC. Might as well have it in original factory condition. Run all the Windows Updates til no more are offered, including SP1 if it isn't shown on the Properties page after Recovery. Then if its sluggish you can Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If you're wanting a Clean Reinstall Windows 7 then you'll need to try another disk or flash stick installer until that error doesn't appear. Did you use the Download tool to burn the DVD and was it a fresh DVD?

I would just run the restore discs but I don't want all the bloatware that comes with it hence the clean install.

After I downloaded the file I tried burning it using the Microsoft USB/DVD Download Tool - however when I tried to open the ISO file it kept coming up with an error "this is not a valid ISO" so I ended up burning it with ImgBurner at speed 3x and ran the verify option aswell afterwards and it passed it. So unsure as to what's going on. Also it was a clean/blank disc I used - I bought new ones especially for this so the disc was brand new out the packet when I used it.

But anyway I'm downloading the ISO again and going to try and burn it to a USB this time and see if that works. If that doesn't then I'll use the recovery discs but I'd rather not use them!

It's still downloading but I'll try your programme too. No I first downloaded it from the direct download that greglocker linked me earlier - but now I used the links that were in the "Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7" thread.

Aww I posted an update but it didn't post!

Bit of an update - Managed to eventually get windows 7 installed. I tried it with a USB but it said it wasn't bootable so I just stuck in a blank CD and burnt the ISO onto that. Then came the updates.. 200 of them! Spent all day updating it, and that's them all done now. Managed to get all the drivers and function keys etc to work aswell. Now I'm just running Recuva to see if it comes back with anything from the drive. But apart from all that, all seems to be working!

In the future use this program to burn the iso file to flash stick, it works perfectly.
