installing windows 7 on new hd

ok so im trying to install AIO windows 7 onto a new hard drive i bought 1tb wd black. i have an emachine t 5224. anyways so i go to install it and it needs drivers. i found the drivers on the emachine website but they wont work cause they r for. xp,vista,w2000,w2003. SO i guess what im asking is where could i find drivers that would help me install w7. thanks again first time posting so let me know if you need more info.

What is "AIO Windows 7" == Have you started to install and ran across problems? When I installed my Win 7, all the drivers were on the Win 7 disk. If you haven't tried to install yet, give it a go and then find out what you are missing. == One other thing, if you have not ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20 you should do so before the install. This tells you what is missing from your PC that enables Win 7 to run.

Since you have an old computer, you need to find out if you have the correct RAM, Video Card, etc to run Windows 7. Put your old HD in and download the Windows Advisor in my link and make sure that you have the proper hardware. == You do know that when you install Win 7, you have to put in a Product Key to activate it. I am guessing your friend did not give you that. == A note to the other guys here at Seven Forums. Have you ever heard of "All in One Windows 7"?

What are your HD's ? IDE or SATA ?

What are your CD/DVD Drives ? IDE or SATA ?

ehh thats the problem my old harddrive crapped out on me. cannot use it. what i am looking for is the drivers for my intel pentium d 820 processor. Also Go TEXANS kick the pats as$. Yes i have a product key

If it`s asking for drivers it`s probably not a proper burn job.

Tell me more! What is happening ? Give me more info about this desktop? What was the Old HD ? What is the new HD ? Do you know how to get into Bios setup ?

The installer is always the problem with that error. All SATA drivers are in the disk. You need to burn your licensed version to DVD using ImgBurn, not use a buggy AIO.

Where did you get Win7? How are you activating it? Answer before we go any further.

ok mabye ill try getting a diff version of windows 7. any ways the computer is a emachine t5224. intel pentium d processor 820. u can prob get all the detail specs on the emachine website. it used a sata WD 250gb hd.The new harddrive is a wd black 1tb sata hd. and bios only when something was install. i think i hit like f12 as the pc is loading up to get into the bios setup.

You may need a BIOS update to recognize the 1tb HD.

The drivers are almost all in the Win7 installer or delivered quickly after install via optional Windows Updates, but you'll need to buy a copy of Win7 first.

You can't just install any Version of Windows. You have to have the one that matches the Product Key that you have. Where did you get the Product Key and what version of Windows came with it?

vista came with it and i have the product key on the sticker it was on the back of the pc faded but i can make it out.

You can`t use a Vista key to activate Windows 7. But if you manage to install it you have 30 days. And even that can be extended. Why don`t you just buy windows since you don`t have a key.
