Installing Windows 7 on....

Hey all thanks for stopping by. I originally had Windows 7 running fine, then because its an older PC the hard drive started to go, or so I thought...Kept getting multiple errors, failure to start and numerous chkdsk's. I ran a status on the drive in question and it all passed, can I install Windows 7 while my drive is sitting in my external hard drive enclosure? I don't want to go thru the steps of reinstalling my hard drive only to have it crap out on me again....

Not via USB. I you've run the HD maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan and it's passed, then plug it back in and follow the steps to wipe the HD and define an Active partition in SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation so you can run a Disk Check
from the installer's Command Line in System Recovery Options

Then Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will get and keep a perfect install as long as you stick with the tools and methods given.
