When i pick my language and press install now, i get this message:
"A required CD/DVD drive device is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert now.

Note:If windiws installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
I tried to change SATA driver but it won't work then, too...

1. Boot and run install from a USB memory stick. Here's a good tutorial on how to make a bootable USB drive - USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create (don't have usb bigger than 2 gb )

2. Re-burn DVD at slowest speed. (tried)

3. Check the assignment of the DVD drive. Don't use "cable select" jumper setup, switch from master to slave for the reader (or vice-versa)
(don't know how to do that on laptop)
4. Try Microsoft KB solution 314060 - Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs (going to try this now)

5. Get latest drivers for your IDE drives (already done)

thx for help!

No, it is the ahci driver I believe.

Never mind.

Boot the Vista dvd to system recovery options command prompt.

Take Vista dvd out - put 7 dvd in .

At the prompt, type;

notepad

then press enter

when it pops up click File>Save , select All files in the drop down at the bottom,

Navigate to dvd drive. Inside the "sources" folder find setup.exe and run it .

If you know Vista dvd boots - then get the free Vista recovery disc and use that :

Windows Vista Recovery Disc Download — The NeoSmart Files

Now XP disc won't boot either? Did you look for a Firmware update form the dvdrom drive?

If you have x64 Vista installed - then try this:

Copy the contents of the 7 dvd to HD as an iso and install from virtual drive e.g. PowerIso.

Or make a bootable flash drive.

Or copy the contents to the HD as files and run setup from there.

Could well be .

If you can boot from usb - the boot into Vista . put 7 dvd in drive - copy the dvd to HD as an .iso , then create bootable flash drive with this USB/DVD Tool: ( download link at the bottom of this tutorial )

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/30470-make-bootable-iso-student-d-l.html

If you don't have an app. to copy the dvd as an .iso - use Alex's isorecorder - install it ( you don't see anything - it's on your rt click menu).

Rt click the dvd drive and select Creat Image from cd ( it means dvd as well if you are on Vista)

ISO Recorder v3

OR:

Instead of booting from usb flash

just rt clik the dvd and Copy , then Paste the contents to your drive and you will have the installation files - run setup.exe and install that way to a partition you have already created.

Keep us posted.

What about these methods - you should be able to copy from the dvd - even if it won't boot properly:

Tht's a good idea. If you can't boot the 7 dvd, or the XP cd - something is not right.
