Installing windows 7 update

I bought it from a company that cooperates with my school for all the notebooks, some software etc..
I had to go to a link where i could click the file i needed and had to download it. when the download was complete i had to burn it on to a dvd..
I already tried open the file by unrar/unzip it, no result.
When i rebooted my notebook i pressed F9 to make it boot from my disc drive but i only got al black screen... so i just booted normally from then.

You can always use a program called DAEMON TOOLS. I use it cause i still dont own a DVD burner. But it allows you to run ISO files as if you have a DVD disc. Here is the link.

Downloads :: DAEMON-Tools.cc

make sure you download the DAEMON TOOLS LITE version.

Bummer I get that UDF misery too:eek: I used Daemon tools and MagicDisk but mounting the iso is just yielding the same problem when making it a virtual DVD??? Only one file readable aka that readme.txt
Even worse .. the DVD's burnt with Nero for Vista Ultimate, W7 RC b7100 and W7 Ultimate Dutch work perfectly .. any other advice?

Well, I am trying to analize this problem :confused:
It isn't a problem though. It's normal behavior. Logicearth had the solution. If you want to see it yourself, take a Vista disc and try to read it in some various XP or older systems.

I disagree .. how else would you explain that a W7 iso in my national language & burnt on DVD is perfectly readable/viewable on my XP pc using Explorer and the US-EN version made in exactly the same conditions, only shows that misery readme.txt file? yet they come from the same MS sponsored academic download site .. ??:shock:

It is possible that the different languages are created using a different CDFS. Normally the DVD is in UDF 2.01 I believe. The readme.txt is on the ISO 9660 CDFS portion of the disk, this file is shown for those that do not support the version of UDF. If you are using Windows XP you probably need to update to SP3 and if you are then it might be the DVD drive.

The frustrating thing is that I can read those DVD's (Vista, W7 build7100, W7-NL) without any problem under XP SP3, but not the W7-EN one .. and unfortunately it is not the XP machine I want to get into its final config ... :(
