Installing Windows 7

Hi, I am trying to install Windows 7 on a new computer and i keep getting this error message.

"windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

I am also trying to run RAID 5 on this system, i have x4 1.5T HD.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Win7 doesn't much like RAID. It isn't redundant and risks losing all data if you lose one HD. Better to use built-in Win7 backup imaging to save image to another HD. Is there another reason you need to run RAID?

If not, unplug all but one HD during install, boot DVD, select Custom install, use Drive Options to delete all, create new 100gb partiiton for Win7, format, Install.

If it fails again reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

You may need to remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install.

We are now seeing some have serious issues getting Windows 7 to install completely to such large spaces/partitions as 1 & 2TB Hard Disk Drives, you may have better success creating a single 100GB partition to do the install to; then you can always extend the Windows partition to include the remaining unallocated space on the HDD or create additional Primary partitions or create an Extended partition after the installation completes if you choose.

A RAID configuration is far more trouble than it's worth with Windows 7.
