Installing windows xp on a system with windows 7 (Seperate HD)

Here's what i am trying to do:
Windows 7 Home premium pre installed on system when purchased (SATA0). I put in a new hard drive (SATA1). What i want to do is install windows XP home edition on the HD that i just installed. When i restart and boot from disk the windows installer shows up and gives me an error message that says check drive F: (New HD) for errors, Viruses etc. which i have done over and over and still nothing. I have searched more threads than i can count and have found problems similar but have tried to do what others did to correct with no luck. If there is more information i need to post please let me know

Try unplugging Win7 HD during install. After install when you plug it back, you can use the BIOS to manage Dual Boot by setting Win7 as first HD to boot (after DVD) then when you want to boot XP, tap the key given on first bootup screen for one-time Boot Menu to trigger it instead.

This is a superior Dual Booting method because it keeps the HD's independent to come and go as you please. Windows-managed Dual Boot interlocks them.

What is the SATA controller setting in BIOS setup? AHCI may block XP install, try inserting its driver into XP during loading using F6 prompt.
