Installing XP OVER 7

Alright so i have a AO533. And yes - it's a netbook, preinstalled with Windows 7 Starter.

So basically what i wanna do is remove windows 7 and install XP onto it because i quite frankly love XP since day 1.
and this is what i've come up with so far.

Since it doesn't have a CD drive. I've got my Win XP pro sp3 ISO. I've extracted it and i've installed it onto a USB flash drive - Made sure it was bootable.
Then i make the USB boot first and then the installation starts. I choose the C drive as the XP installation Directory and format the C drive so it deletes everything including the windows 7 boot files and OS
then the XP installation installs all it's files onto the C (Does this include the boot files?) and then i just continue from there.

what i'm trying to find out is. If i choose the default directory for the Installation to be on the C drive and format it. Will it install XP over 7 so i end up with an XP system only?

Is this the correct process to install XP OVER WINDOWS 7?

Please reply ASAP

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Are you using the Acer Netboot USB Recovery Disk for Win XP?

Are you positive you can get drivers for the netbook first? I would check that out first. Also, check into some performance reviews. I had a netbook for a little while, and Windows 7 Basic ran faster and was more responsive on the system than XP was.

That looks like the right procedure to install XP.

As Acer doesn't offer any XP drivers for that netbook, you'll be entirely on your own. You don't seem to be very experienced in installing Windows. I hope that you're up to the challenge of finding all the drivers you'll need to get your netbook working under XP. (I also hope that those drivers exist.)

Why don't you shrink the Win7 partition in Disk Management, then install XP to the space you made. Partition or Volume - Shrink

XP will take over the boot until you add Win7 back using EasyBCD, so it will be hidden and not bother you unless you want to go back to it.

May I ask what you used to write XP to flash stick as this rarely works? You'll want to boot the stick to install to the partition you create for it, or use the installer to delete partitions to create the XP install partition, full format to install.

First of all, My netbook does have the XP drivers.

2nd - Acer has created a 13gb hidden recovery partition, so all i need to do is ALT+F10 if i wanted to rrestore my pc back to default factory settings.

gregrocker - Im using WinSetupFromUSB - i've tried it before so i know it works. and I don't want to dualboot i want to replace windows 7 with xp.

By install Win XP over Windows 7 will most likely make the Acer Recovery Partition unusable.
Make sure you make the Acer Recovery disks first.

Installing WinXp from USB Pen Drive can be hit & miss, as you say you have a good one, good luck.

If you won't Dual Boot then be sure to make the Recovery Disks. As Theog says you can not expect the Recovery Partition to work after install, so you can go ahead and delete it during XP install to recover the space.

Most people don't replace the new Lexus with a 67 Ford Fairlane but keep both in the garage.

Ok.
