I've got HP tx2650er with integrated HD3200 (Catalyst 10.4). It doesn't have HDMI, so I tried to connect notebook to HDTV using vga output. But Catalyst identifies my TV as CRT Display with max resolution 1400x1050 (or smt.). There are 2 horizontal borders, just like when you try to output 4:3 video on widescreen TV. After i tried to force all possible resolutions in control panel, the screen just got purple (the borders didn't disappear). Tried to modify inf with PowerStrip - no result, screen became white. The TV is definitely HD. For test I successfully connected it to my main PC using vga (nvidia 8800gt) and there were no problems. Please, if you've found a decision, post it here. I've read amd forum (there were some similar problems), but nothing works. They said - it's windows seven problem (so that with vista there is no problem). So, connecting TV through vga is absolutely impossible for Catalyst? Need help, because i can't afford 10m HDMI cable (even if it exist) to connect to my main PC.
P.S. Sorry for my VERY bad English.
Method with changing driver http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=133207&enterthread=y also didn't work.
