Intel 5100 AGN WiFi Card problem

My computer is running on Windows 7 Professional 32bit. It has worked fine for the last 2 years. But recently, my wifi card has started me giving me problems. It detects the wireless networks but connects to them only for around 10-15 minutes after which the connection is not even visible in the list. Then after 30-40 minutes, it can connect but the same problem is there.

Also, I tried to make my own ad-hoc connections and saved them. These connections do work and my friends are able to connect to it and the connection remained active for hours. I did it to check whether the Wifi card is working or not. It does work but only with the outgoing connections that are made by my computer. The networks that in range and are giving problem with my wifi card are working fine for my friends. So, I guess it is not the network's problem.

When I tried troubleshooting it, it gave the problem 'Problem with wireless adapter or access point'. I also tried installing all different driver versions and rollbacking to the default version for my wireless card but the same problem is there. Although in device manager, It says the device is working properly.

The same complaints and problems with this 5100AGN adaptor has been around for a long time.

There are countless threads about this on the internet. It seems that disabling the 802.11n Only setting in the routers settings and running in mixed wireless mode can help. Updating the drivers can also help, try the Intel site. > Intel® Driver Update Utility
