Intel 865 No Native Support

Installed Win 7 over an old Intel 865GBF main board (Intel Extreme on board graphics controller with shared mem). Getting the graphics drivers to work is so frustrating!!

Everything works fine except:

It installs the standard VGA driver by default -- which doesn't allow my LCD/TV to go full res (1680x1050). Also, no updates for the same.

If I install the Intel drivers from the website, (in XP compatibility mode) they work fine, except keep hanging whenever there is any video playing (WMP / Flash / etc) and generally Win7 becomes crashy/hangy. There are no drivers for the 865 mobo from Intel (only support till winXP).

Any ideas?

Here try this, the download url is in the title, but be sure to install it using xp sp2 mode and also make sure the run as adminstrator box is checked to, havent had any problem and im using the same chipset.

@DonaldTheGiver: Hey, thanks I'll try this out in a bit, when I get to my W7 PC. In the mean time, does Aero work?

Another thing I noticed distinctly was that when I click on the 'Performance Evaluation' tool in Control Panel, everything works fine, but when the progress bar reaches 'Checking Windows Media Decoding Capabilities', it just hangs the whole machine. HDD light keeps blinking intermittently (so there is some activity) for about 2-3 minutes into the hung system, but that too stops after sometime and the system is completely frozen.

I'm guessing it's the driver problem?!

It's the XDDM Problem, I also have that in my 845 system. The only way to remedy this is to have a WDDM-compliant card, which in minimal, is a Ge Force FX.
