This machine is used for very light duties but its currently running really slow. It has 2Gb ram which is apparently the max installable according to search on the model number but a search on the chipset says otherwise. A Lenavo laptop can address 3Gb and a dell? can address 4Gb.

I would have thought windows XP would be better with such low ram but it doesn't support trim.

The pc just need to be able to browse a site using silverlight to play videos of dancing for my Mum.

Windows 7 or XP? If windows XP - is there a 3rd party way of enabling trim?

Windows 7 of course. It runs tolerably well on 2 GB RAM.

Windows XP isn't even supported by Microsoft anymore.

I'm installing windows 7 on SSD now. The keyboard I had to remove to access the hard drive was tricky, but bendable.
