Following is Intel's words:

The Intel® Driver Update Utility keeps your system up-to-date. It detects which driver updates are relevant to your computer, and then helps you install them quickly and easily.

You will need to install Java if you don't have java installed, plus disable pop-up blocks for java.com and enable cookies for java.com.

The only intel component on this laptop is up-to-date, according to Intel, so I will be interested in hearing the experiences of others.

Hi Karl, I ran it to provide feedback It did find an ethernet update. Just wanted to add, that you must use IE to run it, as it uses activex. A Guy

I ran it under Firefox. It does require Java to be enabled and the latest Java to be installed. Downloading the latest Jave for Firefox from Java.com while running firefox will take care of the necessary settings.

Since I use NoScript, I found that I had to temporarily OK about 4 or 5 sites in order to perform the download of the intel program.

For the most part it seemed correct for me.

Mine reported the proper chipset, and as up to date.

It also correctly identified my ATI 4890 but as a unknown or unsupported card.

The only oddity for me, was the LAN driver update.
It detected it as a Realtek (which it is) and said there was a newer driver version.

However, it also reported my motherboard as a Intel board for some reason, and the Realtek LAN part # was off a bit.

Perhaps it was correct for the driver, and the actual part # wouldn't matter here.
I double checked at Gigabyte, and according to them its up to date so, I dunno. I left it alone.

Other than that everything else seemed to work just fine.

Thanks. There was some note on that Intel side regarding that mfg version should take precedence in case of discrepancy,also something about if there was OEM after a driver? but once again I didn't really pay close attention.

I've yet to install the program and run it on my Asus netbook. With my Toshiba laptop, eveything was in order already.
