That's an old graphics chip. Intel isn't even developing Win 7 video drivers for newer boards using 965G.

You may be forced to buy an add-on video card.

Hello OlegWasHere, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

I am using a Dell D505 Laptop with the 855 chipset. I found a Vista compatable driver at Dell that works just fine, even though it is older than yours. To install it I unzipped the file into a folder on my hard drive, used Device Manager to update the chipset driver, and manually selected the "inf" file in the above mentioned folder. After a reboot, I had to update the video driver from the video card properties.

(If that sounds confusing, step one was for the chipset drivers which included a video driver; step two updated the video driver itself. Took two steps.)

Go to Dell Support and find a Vista compatible chipset driver for your Dell computer. Download it and if you need further help getting it installed, just let us know?

Cheers!
Robert

Sure, I can try!

Please use the Private Messaging and if you are willing (I am very trustworthy) send me the 7 digit service tag number off of your computer (the rest of the world doesn't need to know what that number is). That will make it possible to find the exact driver for your computer?

Hey, no problem. Don't worry about it. There are several ways to get to PM. Try going to my profile (click on my avatar), find the Contact Info tab and send a PM. Let me know if that doesn't work for you?

Oleg:

I haven't found a driver yet and it is getting late for me. I will look more tomorrow.

However, I found a post that said you could enter the BIOS and increase the on-board video memory to 8MB. Please try that (if you haven't already) and let me know if it helps?

Good night!

Hi cjb, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

To open the BIOS menu, reboot your computer and tap, repeatedly, the F2 key (the normal key for Dell although it could be the "Delete", F1, or another key). When the BIOS menu appears, scroll through the pages and look for the video memory setting. If your computer (unknown to us at this post) is using the motherboard's video (not a video card in a slot on the motherboard) and the BIOS has the option to set the amount of video memory used (from 1 MB to 4 or 8 MB), then you should be able to change the setting.

Cheers!

Hello Khalil!

I have successfully used a Vista driver for the Intel 865 chipset on a Dell D505 laptop. Please see the following link for more information:
http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/41163-graphic-driver-dell-d505.html

However, if you are using a desktop, this driver is not much help. If you could provide the important information (called system specs) about your computer, then we would be in a better position to help you with your video display?

Cheers!

1280 X 1024 is the best you are going to get in Windows Seven with this old Intel 865 chipset!

With a desktop computer and an empty video card slot you can add an inexpensive Windows Seven compatible video card?

Cheers!
