Windows 7 upgrade advisor indicates I need a compatible driver for this device (I presume it means for the motherboard). I can not find such an animal anywhere at Intel or Gateway and Gateway won't advise me unless I sign up for $2.95 per minute support as I'm out of warranty. Can anyone shed light on the driver I should have. Can I just intall Win 7 and let it supply the driver or will it do that?

Those numbers don't really help me. So go to the gateway site Gateway Support - Drivers, Software and Firmware Updates Now on the back or bottom of your system, you should find the serial number. Type it into the box marked serial number. This should pull up your driver download page. Post that page so I can have a look at it. Thanks Fabe (edit) Windows seven has been known to provide most drivers for most boards.

Note: Downloads posted on this site have been tested and certified with hardware configurations sold by Gateway. Although component vendors offer additional drivers on their Web sites, Gateway neither warrants installation nor supports drivers outside the Gateway site. If a driver is downloaded from an external vendor site, support for that driver is provided by that vendor. Gateway tests, certifies and provides drivers for multiple operating systems only when the vendor makes them available to Gateway for certification.

I don't think a bios update will correct your problem. But having the most current bios is always a good thing. Providing you know how to do it and are comfortable in doing so.

Done bios updates in the past but you're right, what I need is the driver. Think I'll just install W-7 and try to update driver (s) from it. Isn't the IMEI just to monitor internal temps? If so, I have an aux. fan in my desk slot where the tower is and I run it all the time anyway, so heat isn't an issue.
