the pc with specs listed is getting old so time to replace with an upgrade = asus z170 pro & i5 6600K. win7 was likely installed in raid mode with the listed driver.
1st try - uninstall all mb/cpu devices in device manager ; shut down ; asus boot = BSOD
2nd try - change raid to ahci to use 'standard ahci 1.0 sata controller' to avoid BSOD ; use ms fixit 50470 to '0' reg keys for ahci ; set bios to ahci ; pSpec boot = post loops not getting to BSOD ; boots fine with bios = raid
trying to avoid time needed to reinstall many programs for a pc that is used many hours everyday, so any other info needed or suggestions are appreciated
the 2tb disk is used for backup data only & was disconnected during these tries - both are NonRaid volumes
