Are you sure about that? I'll admit I haven't used AMD processors in quite some time, but I seem to recall that this wasn't the case. Back then (within past 3 years) if your processor fan failed on an AMD system the computer would continue to run until the processor fried. An Intel system would shut itself off rather than burning up.

Is this still the case now?

I used AMD once and will never do it again. It wasn't necessarily a bad processor, but Intel's are just better for me, that's all.

no now amd CPU survive too after removal of cooler it is so for some time now. to be exact from pentium 4 time (in computer terms thats long time, around 2005 or so).. they was burning in pentium 3 and early pentium 4 times. (in computer terms that is ages ago, around 2000 or so)

in that video there is athlon 64 that was manufactured from 2003 or so.. it survives just as intel pentium 4
your statement "within past 3 years" has no basis now its 2012 (ofcourse if someone have old generation cpu from back then it would burn even now )

p.s. im not amd fan boy i use intel in my pc and like intel more.. but i dont like disinformation.. from what was true long time ago to live until now.. i think amd is good thing, or else intel would get monopoly on cpu market.. CPU price will go up. and to be honest intels netburst architecture aka pentium 4 cpus was not so good. at that time amd athlon 64 was king.

p.p.s my first cpu was intels 80386 that worked without any cooler.

Well considering you can set a temp in Bios that will shut down your PC if it hit's whatever temp you set.
I assume you can do that regardless of what CPU you have.
Intel shut down at 100 degrees or less 95 maybe automatically. Have'nt run an AMD CPU in a long time but I assume you can set a shut down in the Bios.
IMO this warranty thing is just about the money and it's a con...

Intel CPU's are a mile better than anything AMD have currently on the market..been like that for sometime in fact.
