Intermittent Network Behavior form One Machine to the Next.

I have went into advanced sharing on every last folder in our four machine home network; as best I can tell, I have everything set such that any of the four machines can access anything in the others.

When I open a folder in Explorer, the little "shared" icon is exhibited.

However, and I never know which, when, or why, I may try to access a folder on one machine from another, and that exact same connection may have worked a week ago, I will get that ear-splitting screeching noise and a white and red warning box telling me that I do not have the necessary permissions and please contact my network administrator.

When this happens, I can usually go over to the other machine and do exactly what I was trying to do on the other machine without a hitch.

Also, whenever this "contact your network administrator" business happens, I can investigate the situation to a fare-the-well and cannot see any reason whatsoever that I cannot do what I am attempting to.

Is there a permanent fix for this or is it something I will just have to live with ?

The normal problem is you give share permission but forget NTFS permissions which will stop access to files you need to set NTFS permissions on the folders your sharing

Thanks! ; I will Google that to learn how and implement it at the soonest; I did not until now know that there were such a thing as NTFS Permissions.

I have been poking around in various folders, right-click > Properties > Security Tab and investigating this NTFS securities business, but it all looks foreign to me.
I would like to give unlimited full control of every folder to everyone in our "homegroup", including folders, subfolders, and files.
How do I go about this ?
There is a free program, "NTFS Permissions Tools" ; would this make things easier for me ?

What you are suggesting is dangerous giving full control to everyone means any hacker or ransomware also has full control. You allow named users not everyone. What folders are you sharing any in the profile have deny set by default even to admins on the local pc

I just want to be able to sit at any of our four machines and edit photos that may be on another machine; move things around if I want, copy a file to another machine, whatever.

I have the scanner tied to one machine; it would sure be nice to consistently be able to shift the scanned images to exactly where I want them to go without constantly getting that access denied" pop-up.

There are only two users, myself and my wife; do I need to create a named user for each machine and then give access to that name, instead of "everyone" ?

This advanced sharing business has always confused and overwhelmed me.
