I have had some issues where my Ethernet would not be the default connection when both WiFi and Ethernet are connected. After searching the forums I managed to get through the network adapter priority settings and setting the metric values for the adapters.

All of my internet traffic uses the Ethernet no problem now. I can leave an hour long HD Youtube video up and monitor it in task manager to see which adapter it uses. If I go to copy a file from a networked location I will see a spike in the wireless connections...

This is a company laptop and the wifi network is brought down through AD, if that helps. I should be able to make any changes needed to help resolve the issue. Any ideas?

Welcome to Seven Forums,

I don't know if you still need assistance, your post must have been overlooked due to the Holidays.

Is this issue occurring in your home or work network?

If the files are being shared and transfer using a wireless connection, it can be an issue if the Wi-Fi adapters don't have the A/N technology, this goes as well with the your router's specs and the file servers. File Servers with RAID configured are very helpful. Using wired connection is always the best route to do file transfers.

Which/What network location are you referring to?
