For Starters:

Toshiba satellite A665 running windows 7 64 bit with an Intel Core I3 2.27 processor. My ISP is qwest and I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router.

The Issue;

Since getting the new computer about 8 months ago I have noticed that the internect connection for this laptop "times out" and drops quite a bit. This happens both when running wireless or hard wired to the router. I will be surfing the web and notice that the connection as dropped for a second. While surfing the web its not generally noticeable. However when downloading from Itunes or attempting to download or upload on any other site I notice the down/uploads time out or stop.

I also have a Mac laptop in the house that never appears to have these issues and runs smoothly.

The laptop prior to this one that ran Windows XP also did not have this issue.

I have gone into the computer and pinged several websites as well as the router and dont get any loss reported.

I was hoping someone would be able to give me some advice as to why this is going on. I am by no means a computer guy and could use any help that is out there.

Thank you kindly.

Welcome to SF,

I would highly consider to update your router's firmware to the latest that you may obtain from the manufacture's site. Make sure to use a wired connection to install the latest firmware.

Updating your wireless and LAN adapter to the latest is also a great idea.
