Internet connection problem - DSN server

Hi

I have a Netgear ADSL2+ modem router DG834 connected all round the room by various cables and boxes. Lately we've been having Internet connection problems, it's just taken me over an hour to get the Internet and the diagnostic says DNS server connection problems.

Can anyone tell me what this could be please? I've tried plugging in a different modem and swopping the connections over but it only comes when it wants to!

You should try changing you dns server to google's maybe? here is how:

Now google dns is:
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

DNS belongs to each internet service provider, so every ISP has different DNS. if it was stated that problems due to DNS, it means the modem is unable to access the internet provider's DNS. check to see if the DNS in tcp/ip setting is set to automatic (to use provider's DNS automatically). you can also try power cycle the modem and router. this will refresh the connection :
1. in this sequence, shutdown PC first, then modem followed by router.
2. unplug power cables of the modem and router. wait for 30minutes.
3. plug power cables of modem and router, but before turning on the router, turn on the modem first and wait for it to initialize completely.
4. turn on the router, wait for it to initialize completely. when modem and router is set, turn on the PC.

It just seems to be a problem with there isp probably better to switch it anyways.
