Internet Connection Problem

Hi.

I just installed Windows 7 RC 7100. Everything was just working fine. One day, after I restarted the computer, it couldn't connect to the internet. I opened the Network and Sharing Center and there was two networks (Home and Public, when should be just Home). The internet works if I disable and enable again the network adapter.

This don't happen when I hibernate, just when I reboot.

I use Cable internet (Motorola SBV5121 modem) and a Marvel Yukon 88E8040 network adapter.

I already updated the adapter driver.

Does anyone has a clue of what's happening ?

Same issue

I am having the same issue. I have updated my driver and enabling/disabling the adapter is the only thing that works. Some additional history:

I installed Win 7 and internet did not work, showed an error. Other local computers are able to access shared folders on the Win 7 machine so error was only going through gateway (no internet access). It is set to DHCP and IPV6 is off and using latest diver for REAL tek onboard NIC. Running ipconfig shows 0.0.0.0 as default gateway but in some instances shows the real default gateway (router IP) under the 0.0.0.0 so essentially showing 2 gateway addresses. Resetting the NIC seems to work for a few hours but eventually it gets a gateway error. I have also tried a usb nic (linksys) to see if maybe a new nic would solve issue but the usb nic experienced similar issues (although I did not fully test it). Other PC's running vista or xp work perfectly fine connected to the router. Swapped cables and ports so it seems that this is a Win 7 issue.

Any thoughts on things I can try?

I can try it but from my understanding WINS doesnt really (or shouldnt really) have an impact on storing gateway settings. Even statically setting the default gateway won't take when it decides to randomly stop.

Ok.

The gateway thing worked just once. After a second restart the problem came back. I tried reinstalling the adapter and troubleshooting but both didn't work.

Does anyone have a new idea ?

If that second network that you refer to as Public is called "Unidentified" and you see a default gateway that is set to 0.0.0.0 and you have installed ITunes then that seems to match the report at:
http://www.sevenforums.com/network-internet/7843-ghost-network-serious-network-adapter-bug-4.html
Which is a well-known issue with the Bonjour service apparently going back well over a year:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1346079

Settign the Bonjour service to Automatic (Delayed Start) appears to correct the problem.

Hope this helps.

I could transfer between Windows 7 64 desktop(wired), Vista Home 32 Laptop( wireless, and XP home 32 laptop(wireless) but today.....NO GO!! I clicked on 'full map' in W7 and when i clicked on 'gateway' my router disconnected with the internet, THREE times. Grrr. Each time i manually turned netgear router DG834G off for 15 seconds. No help...until this thread!

ANSWERED(at least fixed): Thankyou onestyle +1, it fixed it completely (still have no idea about the gateway icon tripping me out but ill research it if it plays up some more. Im NOT going to click it while its working :_) )
