Internet connection problem

I recently upgraded from windows XP to windows 7 x64 and since then have noticed a dramatic decrease in the speed of my internet connection - speedtest.net shows my connection fluctuating anywhere from .5 to 5 Mbps whereas before i upgraded i was getting 10-15. The strange bit is that the decreased performance was there right after i installed windows, even before installing anything else on my system. The problem seems to persist even in safe mode w/ networking. It only affects my download speed. my ping is low and upload speed remains the same as it was with XP.

Im using a D-Link WDA-2320 NIC connecting to a D-Link WBR-2310.

Ive been looking for a solution for this all over. anyone have any idea whats going on?

Tried rebooting router & modem?

I had a neighbour recently with same issue - had web connection but very slow. I tried some diagnosis but in the end I rebooted his (Netgear) router & all was immediately OK. Probably worth a try.

Hello Sam,

* Just try rebooting the router as informed above.
* Further, you can try it by disabling your firewall temporarily.
* If you have shared the internet, disable the other connections while you run the test.
