Hi,

I have a problem with the internet connection sharing in win7 although it worked back then with vista.
Ok, here is the setup:
Computer1 (c1) is connected through a router to the internet, this is working perfectly, no problems here.
Computer2 (c2) is connected to c1 through a LAN cable.
In Vista (and before in XP) I was able to share the internet connection in c1 with c2.

Here is the configuration I tried:
* In c1:
I activated the internet connection sharing (in the network to the router)
For the LAN to c2 I set the IP(4) manually to 192.168.178.2/255.255.255.0

* In c2:
I set the IP(4) also manually to 192.168.178.3
But its not working :(
Please note that both computers can see each other and even access the shared folders of each other(both not join one homegroup, but this is another problem).

Please help me, since its driving me crazy and I'm starting to thing about going back to Vista!

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I have also tried to set both LANs to retrieve the IPs automatically, with no success...

To understand your setup better, does C1 have 2 wired networking adapters? Is this correct >>> 1 connected to router, 1 connected to C2?

Is there any specific reason that you don't run C2 through the router the same as you do with C1?

Make sure the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service is running on C1.

Hi,

thank you for your attention :)
Yes, C1 is connected to the router and c2 is connected to c1.
The reason I don't connect c2 to the router directly is that I don't want to have another long cable going to the router, the router is not in the same room as c1 and c2, its in the corridor because I use it for telephony too.

Thanks again.

Hi,
I've got it now, even if I'm not sure what really happened ;)
What I did was setting the LANs to retrieve the IPs automatically and rebooted, I also disabled the Internet Connection Sharing rebooted then enabled it again and rebooted. After that I ran the "problems wizard"(sorry I don't have an English Windows) and it worked :)
Thanks again.
