Internet Connection Sharing Service won't start

Hi,

With my new computer I have been using my old laptop to connect to my wireless network (since my new computer doesn't have a wireless adapter) through the Internet Connection Sharing function in Windows 7. This all worked fine for about a week but then suddenly I cannot connect to the internet anymore. I discovered that this was because the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service was not started. I tried starting it but I just get an error saying "The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I have been searching the net all afternoon and have tried a few solutions but none so far have worked. I really need a solution for this as I do not want to splash out on a network card unless I really have to do.

Thanks

This seems to be a typical problem when trying to use ICS for any length of time. Your Hamachi interface or McAfee could be causing some of the problems that you are seeing.

In most every case you would be far better served using a real router wired/wireless rather than using ICS in order to access the internet

Ok I'll just have to use my laptop for internet for a while until I get the ethernet cabling done or buy a wireless card :(.
