Internet connection sharing

I'm using LAN internet on my laptop and I want to share it to my phone or another laptop through WiFi. But I have some problems.
First of all (and probably the root of the problem) is that the Internet connection sharing service is not working properly. When I start it it shows me a box, saying "The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
All of the following services are set to auto-start, and are started: Application Layer Gateway Service, Network Connections, Network Location Awareness (NLA), Plug And Play, Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, Remote Access Connection Manager, Remote Procedure Call (RPC), Telephony.
Also when I go to my LAN card properties under the Sharing tab, I mark the two options there and whatever I chose for Home network connection I get the same error, saying "An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. (null)"

The method I'm trying is making and ad hoc network. I'd be glad to get some help from you guys :)

Pavel

PS: Also can you tell me why do I have two "Wireless Network Connection" under my Network Connections? The one is Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card, and the other is Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter.

I'm also open to other methods to achieve my goal - to use the laptop internet on my phone.

There is also WiFi where I'm using the net but it's got quite complicated settings to make before you're able to enter your username and password and start using it, so I don't see how I can do that on my phone. And don't ask me why do I need net on the phone if I have the computer - I've got my reasons :P

I can't make it work on neither way you suggested. The things that are shown on the last 2 links are just not the same on my Windows. So I can't follow them. And the Connectify program just says Connectify Service Down. The online help of the website doesn't help me. When I click on "Start Service" it starts doing something and it looks like it's stuck somewhere. After it stops loading and I wait about 15 seconds it's all the same again. There is a copy of what's written under the details when it's loading after I click "Start Service":

Output folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Connectify
Shutting down Connectify services
Exiting ConnectifyService
(ConnectifyService - 1)
Asking ConnectifyService to exit.
(ConnectifyService - 1)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)
(... and it repeats about 50 times...)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)
Waiting for ConnectifyService to exit. (ConnectifyService - 1)

Exiting Connectifyd
(Connectifyd - 0)
Exiting DualServer

Later the same day: I'm not sure what happened but everything looks normal now. The window of the program (Connectify) looks OK and the WiFi tells me that there's a Connectify connection which has internet access. It's just that when I try to connect to it from the phone and load a page it says Invalid Server Name. Tomorrow I'll try it with another laptop also because I can't right now.
