Internet Disconnection Problems using programs such as Skype

So, I've had my laptop since around March of last year and I haven't really had many problems with it. The main problems I've been experiencing lately is getting randomly disconnected from the internet while on Skype and other miscellaneous programs. For example, if I'm on Skype while on a call/video and playing an online game (or not even gaming online), my internet will go out for my computer after 10-15 minutes or so, maybe a little longer than that. About a minute after getting disconnected, my internet resumes. Manually disconnecting and reconnecting does the trick right away though. I have the latest drivers for my adapter installed and I've unchecked 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. I do realize, however, that using Skype and Gaming Online can be pretty heavy as far as internet usage goes, but when someone else is using the internet, they have no problems whatsoever. So, my question is, why is this happening to me? Is this a hardware or software issue?

P.S. The network adapter I'm using is: Atheros AR9485WB-EG (if that helps at all).

Also, I have no problems browsing the internet or streaming alone.

It might be that .. ur anti virus software is blocking the internet sometimes.. if possible change the settings in the antivirus such that .. it allows skype to use internet.
