Internet disconnects for a second

Hello, I just got a new computer and I'm having internet problems. I used to use an old XP desktop with direct connection and it stayed connected, used my vista laptop with direct connection and it stayed connected, and now with my new W7 desktop the internet does not stay connected. It just disconnects and reconnects in a split second. This interferes while I'm playing games (3 different games), it'll tell me I have lost connection, and when I check my internet connection it says I'm connected. Sometimes I see the little internet connection icon on the bottom say X then a little loading circle then back online in a second. It interferes when I'm streaming also. It happens every 10-30 min or so and it gets REALLY annoying. Anybody have similar problems? Any way to fix?

I did that and that problem still exists, and all the games do support W7. Also that wouldn't solve for streaming problems either.

Did you install the Intel drivers for your motherboard (and did you get them directly from the Intel website for your board)?

Yes, my drivers are installed and updated, but I don't know if they were from a site or not. I bought my computer in parts online and they built it, so they installed, updated, and tested everything for me.

Hello,

You have mentioned that in your previous O/S's you have used a direct connection, no issues at all. Is your Windows 7 experiencing issue on a wireless or a wired connection?

For now, see if turning off power-saving mode on the network adapters would help. You may do this from Device Manager. Expand Network Adapters, right click on the problematic adapter, choose Properties, then Power Management Tab, uncheck the boxes.

Please post an update.

Its connected to a wired connection. The same connection i've been using in my previous OSes.

On the bright side, I did what you instructed changing the power management and 2 hours in, so far so good. Streamed an episode of House and didn't get interrupted for the first time since I got this computer. Hopefully I'll get lucky and it wont disconnect again while gaming. I will update my status if it starts happening again.

Sad to say, problem still exists. :( It was working fine for a couple hours, then started coming back, but not as often. Before every 10-30 min, now its about every hour or so, more or less.

You should go out and look for updated manufacturer drivers yourself. Have you gone to Intel and searched for your motherboard and downloaded the drivers yourself? You should get the motherboard chipset drivers and the NIC drivers.

Any luck fixing this? I have a brand new computer. Running Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit. I have all the latest correct drivers from the manufacturers of the hardware in the computer. My network keeps disconnecting, then identifying network then reconnecting every 15seconds. If I play something like Battlefield Bad Company 2 or Call of Duty 4 it creates massive rubber banding in the game.

I am on a wired connection. It is not my router as I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit running on my laptop and it works fine on both wired and wireless.

Any one have any solutions?

Hi jah008,

What type of AV, Security or Firewall Software do you have installed?
Do you have port forwarding setup in your router for the games?
