We already know quite a few details about Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft's upcoming attempt to retain - or grow - its market share in the browser world. Standards and speed are the main focus of IE9, and if a video of the upcoming beta release is anything to go by, they're doing pretty well. Just... Did they just manage to make the interface even less appealing?

Microsoft has fed us a number of builds for Internet Explorer 9, and while theyshowed off the speed improvements as well as the much more modern standards support (95 on Acid3), Microsoft remained tight-lipped on what, exactly, it was planning to do about that abomination they dare to call a "UI" used by the previous two Internet Explorer releases.

With the beta release only a few days away, leaks are bound to occur. A website called IEBest.com (I wish I was making this stuff up) claims to be in possession of the beta release, and has the video material to prove it. Of course, it's hard to assess how genuine this stuff is, but if it is, the IE9 user interface team deserves a spanking.

Assuming this is real, the interface doesn't look particularly polished; the tabs feel bolted on, as if they're not part of the actual program. If it were a screenshot, I'd call Photoshop on that one. Everything does look a lot tidier than previous releases, but one massive problem stands out like a major cringe-inducing eye-sore.

While I'm this close to proposing to Chrome's UI so I can give her babies, Chrome does have one major problem: lack of tab overflow. If you open boatloads of windows in Chrome, the tabs become ever smaller and less readable, until you're finally just staring at a white mountain range.

However, at least Chrome will give you the full width of the window to play with. In this supposed IE9 user interface, you're given just half of the window for the tab bar, because the stupid address bar is in the way! This monumental oversight alone makes me think we're looking at a fake. This just can't be real.

If it turns out this is, in fact, real, I'm going to do a massive facepalm.

I really hope ie9 won't be like that.Position of the tab is really stupid and very ugly. It looks more like firefox and maxthon 3. A lot of people find ugly ie8 apparence but after some changes I find it really clean and fine.

But it's a question of tast. We're lucky to have 5 or 6 good browsers and firefox fan would others look like him and the same for google I found that is really sad.Personaly i use safari 5 by default and it's the same (people says:" when we can customize the colors I put him condescend to try"). The diversity of choices is a luck and we would like that they are like everyone, all the same.(since version 5 safari works really well on windows).
I apologize for my english.

New Internet Explorer (IE9) Beta UI Video Sneak Peek

With approximately a week left until Microsoft will debut the public Beta of its revolutionary Internet Explorer 9 browser, new leaks allow users to get a better idea of what the company has in store for them come September 15th, 2010.

The video embedded at the bottom of this article is reportedly offering a sneak peek at the Beta development milestone of Internet Explorer 9, which is scheduled for launch next week at the “Beauty of the Web” event in San Francisco.

The source of the video claims that it is in the possession of the IE9 Beta installer, and while it has not leaked the actual bits, it did demo the new browser, as users can see below.

Fact is that with the official Internet Explorer 9 Beta just eight days away, it’s probable that the IE team has already wrapped up at least pre-Beta Builds, if not the actual release that will be delivered to the public.

I agree on this looking ridiculously fake. I don't think MS wants this UI to look anything like IE8, because of the bad reputation that browser has gotten over the past time(I'm not saying it's (un)fair).

Microsoft will design a more slick interface which suits the browser's quality (IE9).

The guy was using CamStudio which is notorious for being bad at recording fast animation on the desktop. (Try playing a movie on your desktop and record it with CamStudio on default settings, it'll look choppy). CamStudio was made just to record simple motions on the desktop.

If the UI is customizable (some settings to split the address bar and tabs bar), then it doesn't really matter to me.

I know exactly how you feel, lol X)

I see three icons to the right of the address bar+tab: home, RSS and the down arrow which reminds me of Office. Perhaps IE9 will embrace a ribbon style toolbar(s)? Though regardless, having such an easy option to hide any additional stuff is awesome.

You know, before v6, I couldn't wait to give up Chrome for anything else. Now with v6 Chrome doesn't eat my RAM like a maniac, but still, IE9 is kind of a big deal.

I'm excited to try the beta but are they going to change the buttons?
The UI on the video looks different from the UI on the leaked screenshot.

Really? Haven't noticed much difference aside from the navigation arrows.
The more I think about this vid, the faker it looks to me.

Yeah. I just hope that IE9 won't use IE8 (Windows default) buttons. I prefer those in the leaked screenshot. See below. And yes, the video looks fake.

Seeing the video has Visual Studio open and the actually UI components look bolted on. Gives me a strong indication that this is fake. You'll also notice the UI is never actually used in this video, a telling sign that it doesn't actually function. Not to mention the icons on the far right are in color. It is very easy btw, to make a tiny application that links in with IE's rendering engine.

In the video, the supposedly IE9 beta UI looks botched together quite badly, I mean the stop & refresh buttons don't even look as though they properly line up with the address bar & the icons on the right look far too small as well (Is it my eyes or do I see a heart icon in their too), whole thing just scream's fake to me.

But if it does turn out to be real then M$ really need to go back to the drawing board on this one :(

When i saw the screenshot of IE9 i thought they had made a browser that looks good but after i saw this vid the browser look worse than IE 8. Just hope the video is a fake.

I'm 90% sure the video's a fake because the UI icons in the vid look weird as if there not ment to be there and we never see the actual UI!
