Solved Internet explorer accidently deleted and is not recovering

Hello, I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit, intel dual core e5400, ati raedon 1gb hd4350, 2GB RAM.

My internet explorer 9 wasn't loading web pages though i had an active internet connection. Being a newbie, i deleted the internet explorer from c:\program files.

Most of the files except one named "ieproxy.dll" are deleted from the folder "Internet explorer".

After that, I tried to install it again by downloading it from microsoft's website but the installer says that I have a more recent version installed and exits. What should I do to restore my internet explorer 9?

Hello Kautilya, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if turning off (unchecking) Internet Explorer in Windows Features and apply, then turning on (checking) Internet Explorer again in Windows Features and apply may add the deleted files back for you.

I tried it but when i open that window, there's nothing in it...

Well, in that case, you could do a system restore (at boot if needed) using a restore point (if available) dated before you deleted Internet Explorer by mistake to undo it.

Thanks for your help Shawn but I feel sad to say that i didn't create a system restore point before. Isn't there any other way?

You could do a repair install to hopefully fix it.

In all likelihood, it was the sfc /scannow step that did it - I was about to suggest exactly this step to you.

It would have restored the missing files from the WinSxS cache that lives inside the C:\Windows folder.

Is IE 9 still listed in Installed Updates in the Windows Update Section ? If so, can you uninstall/reinstall.

If the above procedures were successful, it still may be good to uninstall and reinstall IE 9.

Thank you faceofjoe and corazon for your posts but when i am trying to run sfc/scannow with administrator rights, it gets failed by displaying the message "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation"

@torre - the installed updates section is also blank

After some searches, I've got this- "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/" and I am downloading the update readiness tool. As soon as i get something new, i will post it here..
