Internet Explorer hangs for a minute or so

After setting up Windows 7 on a newly formatted HDD, I installed Norton IS 2010, and Office 2007. Somehow it seems that IE wants to hang for about 30-45 sec up to a minute for no apparent reason - no busy circle or anything. I cannot find a reason why. Any ideas?

Hi james and welcome to sevenforums

can you do me a favor. type event viewer in search. then go to the windows log, applications tab. look thru the log for errors (they have red "x" in the left hand column) you are looking for things like app crash and internet explorer. there will be many. can you get the event ID and source code for them?

Let us know the results

thanks

Ken

Do yourself a big favor. Get rid of anything and everything Symantec. It does more harm than good. Hogs system resources and slows the machine to a crawl, especially when starting up. And don't try to use the PC while a virus scan is running. Better off going with a freebie like AVG or Avast. They catch viruses and trojans that Norton and Mcafee either can't catch or can't remove.

I would Disagree on that edipete. I have NIS 2010 Works fine on my PC and scans wonderfully in the background with no problems at all...

Do you have any add-ons that you may not need like toolbars (Google, Yahoo, all the others one out there) I have found that to be my issue with IE and now startups alot faster..

Hope this Helps..

I don't have any speed issues with IE or the PC itself. All I said was Norton and Mcafee use alot of system resources and cause the machine to run slow. Norton does have it's advantages though. I make alot of money cleaning up viruses and Trojans that it can't. :)
