Internet Explorer has stopped working

I hope I'm not the only one having this issue. My IE8 gives me the "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message all the time. I bet in an hour, I get the message 6 times or more. Then I have to close it and restart. Is this a known issue. How do I fix it?

Goto start - accessories - system tools - IE (No addons)
If this worked, them one of the addon is the culprit. Follow the above post and disable the addon one by one and check which is creating the problem.
You can also try resetting IE to factory defaults. U can find it in IE - Tools - Internet options.

None worked? Goto command prompt elevated as admin, run,
sfc /scannow
once done, restart the machine and check.

I experienced ur same issue and the above command fixed it.

If that does not work try this. Go to search and type in turn windows features. There you will see turn windows features on and off. Turn off IE, turn off your machine and then boot up again. Be warned, you will not be able to go on line until you turn it back on again. If you are concerned, you can make a system restore point first, just to be sure.

I'm also have the same thing happen, I'm sure its just an add on thats causing the problem, but honestly some of the solutions do seem a little extreme...best is to try the easiest one then work your way up.

Disable Add Ons

Disable all the add ons except for adobe flash and adobe reader especially get rid of toolbar add ons, the more add ons there are on the browser it will make it open slow and can cause a lot of stability issues get the add ons to a bare minimum

Internet Explorer not working

In anticipation of Windows 7 for travel I bought a HP 13.3 laptop with Windows Vista and a free upgrade to Windows 7 when available.

Later I bought a HP 14.1 laptop with Windows 7 loaded for home use. To compare Vista to 7 I did not upgrade the travel comuter.

Both computers have had consistent problems:

"Internet explorer not respoding"

"Internet explorer not working:

Sometimes the system would reset, other times the system would hang up, and other times the system would continue after closing the pop-up notification window about solving the problem.

After searching the internet for a solution, today I download Firevox. Faster and after much testing, no problem.

Why does Microsoft let a free sofrware provider outperform them?

Crapware

Well when you buy a new computer is has so much crapware loaded on it and every possible setting that could bung stuff up is turned on I see it all the time, when my clients buy a new machine they bring it straight to me to remove all the crap and set it up for the best performance.

So when you load up IE look at the toolbars like the Google toolbar which is one of the worst for bunging up the browser and MSN stuff like that another culprit is all the safe seach link checkers form AV companies they do nothing but slow down the browser.

So there is cause for these issues just because you buy a new computer it does not ensure trouble free computing.

Also curious to see if Mustang got this fixed. Did a clean install (after an impossible upgrade) of Windows 7 on my new computer about a month ago and I'm having the same exact problem. I use Firefox, but I have to use Explorer almost every day for browser compatability purposes (working on a redesign right now). Regardless of how I exit out of IE8, the error pops up about a half dozen times an hour. Even worse, after the error, a radio-like program starts playing in the background. Very, very strange. Only way to end the madness to stop is to restart the computer. Will try some of the fixes suggested here...

Err: Never mind. I stupidly didn't go to the second page and saw that you kind folks suggested the add-on feature is to blame here. Will try that. Thanks.
