I recently installed Windows 7 OEM on a Dell XPS M1530. Everything works fine except Internet Explorer (Firefox, Chrome work). It's a blank screen with a couple empty tabs, with no text at all anywhere. I upgraded from v9 to 10, but still same thing. F5 refresh has no effect.

Don't know it it's relevant, but after the Windows installation, while installing some free software, I inadvertently picked up Conduit software, along with "Backup My PC". I uninstalled the Backup software and I ran Adwcleaner. I also uninstalled something called "MixDJ", which I thought was another unwanted software that snuck past me while installing several free utilities and media players. I don't know if IE was OK before these things.

I need advice, please.

Hi shokan2,

Run Malwarebytes to check for any spywares. As you mentioned that a lot of softwares were installed without your consent. You might have uninstalled them, but if they were infected we must clean those by scanning and cleaning them. Scan for viruses as well.

Scan is clean. Actually, the only software that snuck in anything was KMPlayer. The others such as Speedfan, TrueCrypt, MozBackup, VLC, Adobe Reader, Lockhunter were from the developers' sites and I'm pretty sure nothing else was snuck in from them.

Try re installing IE again.
Tried installing for a third time, but this time I filled in the Bing bullet. I now get msn to load when clicking on IE. I changed homepage to Google, signed in. Closed IE. Clicked on IE, blank page ("about:blank"). Clicked on the Home icon upper right and it goes to Google.

Don't know what's up. But, it will suffice. Thanks for getting me to try a third time.

Glad the issue is resolved now. Sometimes the installation can corrupt the IE. Reinstalling solves it most of the time.
