Internet over Powerlines

Has anyone experience with an Internet connection over an electrical Powerline instead of a wireless connection?
is it easy to setup, reliable, fast,..?
Are the any problems I should now before I buy and install?

They used to be horribly slow and unreliable, to the point I had assumed the products were all discontinued since wireless became so prevalent.

They have improved immensely. Just remember not to plug them into
powerbars, battery backups or line conditioners.
Gigabit powerline adapters are now coming out.

I gave up on WiFi for the wifes laptop and went with Netgear powerline units. Just pluged them in and they work great. Some have encryption also but are very easy to setup. Lots of new ones coming out so check around.

Actually, it is not I who has the problem but a friend of mine.
She has a wireless printer that is having problems. When it is connected via a network cable with the router the problems are gone. but the printer normally resides in a sort of basement where there is no internet outlet.
