Internet radio...what are the file types/extensions ?

What file type does internet radio broacasting use....?...is there any other than mp3 ?

What do you mean what file types do they use???

I use Windows Media Player to listen to Internet radio and going to their sites, I can download these .asx files classified as Video Playlists. I save them on my Playlists folder and when I play them, they would launch Internet radio straight from my Windows Media Player 12.

By file types I mean which file type/extension (MP3, AU, Midi..etc) in Win 7 "Default Programs" do you assign for internet streaming audio/radio to change/choose between Windows Media Player...Real Audio...Adobe Media Player etc., to be the default player ?
