Solved internet search shortcut

I have a lot of movie files on my hard drive, I back up my dvd collection, and when browsing sometimes my father-in-law will ask what a certain movie is. Instead of trying to explain to him would it be possible to create some type of shortcut so that I can right click the file and have it search IMDB.com for that title? This would be a simple way of having the synopsis and cast brought up.

so after a bit of searching I did find this

which is exactly what i want to do but to be honest it is a little out of my league, can anyone break it down a bit?

First, you have to create the .bat file. Just open notepad, copy-paste the command and save it as .bat, not .txt. Then, put it somewhere and don't move it anywhere else. Afterwards, create the .reg file. It's the same as with the .bat: open notepad, copy-paste the command, editting it as needed (namely the path to the batch file (.bat) and the context menu text), and save it as .reg. Then, just merge the .reg file (double-click or right-click->merge).

Download the files I've attached and move the imdb.bat file to a folder of your choice. Right click the imdb.reg file and click edit. Change the C:\\MyBatch\\imdb.bat\ to the folder of your .bat file but keep the \\ after each folder and the \ after imdb.bat
For example:
C:\\Users\\Jaidyn\\Downloads\\imdb.bat\
Then, double click the imdb.reg file. A warning message should pop up; click OK. Whenever you right click a folder, there should now be an option to 'Search in IMDb'.

Well, that's about it. Oh, and you can now delete the .reg file if you want. Tell me if it doesn't work.

Thanks a ton for those files it works exactly like i wanted it too. I don't know what I was doing wrong, I had created the bat file and a i successfully got the registry added but when I would try to search a movie file using this technique it would just try to open and play the file. Oh Well i download the files to made and now it works great, again thanks

There's another way to create a shortcut to IMBd, if you're using IE, and I use it several times a day, with one click. Here's what you do:

First, make sure that you've got the IE Command Bar enabled and customized to display the "Home" link. Here's how to do that: Open IE, click on View, Toolbars, and check the Command toolbar. Then, to customize the Command toolbar, put your cursor on the toolbar, right-click, and then at the bottom of the list, select Customize. Click on: "Add or Remove Commands." From the list of commands, add the 'Home' icon.

Once you're all set, go to the IMBd website (or ANY website that you wish to add to your Home Page settings). From that website, open IE, and on the Command Bar go to your Home link and click the little down-arrow 6 to the right of the Home link.
Select "Add or Change Home Page." A menu will open that says: Would you like to use the following as your home page?
If you wish to ADD this webpage to a list of multiple “Home pages” then click: Add this webpage to your Homepage tabs.
If you wish this webpage to be your ONLY Home page, then click: Use this webpage as your only homepage.

Once done, any time you click on the Home icon, a drop down menu will open and you can click on the IMBd link and go directly to that page. It's kind of like a mini QuickAccess toolbar. I have 6 links in my Home menu ---Very handy, and you can change it easily any time you wish.

Thanks works great I tried on my own and couldnt get it to work!
