does anyone know how to install nortin internet security in the same way like it is done on preinstalled oem machines?
the program is already installed but the trial period only starts after "activating" the software. before that the software does not work.

i also want to "pre"install the demo now but activate it at some later time. i am sure there must be a install switch or something like that to accomplish it.

any ideas?

btw: please no "you must be nuts to install this prog" ; ) it's not for myself.

I'm not too sure about it but I think that Norton internet security actually asks you for your account information before it begins the trial period for activating the software.

Alternatively, if my thinking was wrong, then there are methods. Most computers come with a folder that contains all the preinstalled OEM software. For example, the SwSetup folder in HP contains almost all the necessary software you have in the initial setup. Thus, if you can have contact with a person who just bought a new computer that came with norton internet security preinstalled, along with their computer, there should be a backup setup file or a cd that installs the software without commencing the trial activation period.

If you are unable to do the above, download this and at least give it a try.
symantec
This download page gives you a 90 day free trial. I chose to pick this download link because of the name of the exe file.
Link for direct download:
http://spftrl2.digitalriver.com/pub/symantec/2004/NAV2010_17.0_Build_136_OEM90_Microsoft.exe
You see, the word OEM appears directly in the executable. This is good reason to suspect that perhaps, it won't start the trial activation period until you register with the company.
I give you my best regards :D.
