Hi all. I need help. LAN settings for "automatically detect settings" keeps getting unchecked and "proxy setting" keeps getting checked. While I'm browsing, I have to keep going back to change the 2 settings. How do I keep the "automatically detect settings" checked all the time.

Note:
- I have tired browser reset and its still the same.
- Uninstalling and installing browsers doesn't work either.

Thanks.

Hi jnm and welcome to Sevenforums!

Unfortunately, this problem is almost always associated with some type of infection on your computer.

I would download and run Rkill, TDSS Killer, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and Adwcleaner (In that order)

Check Installed Programs and uninstall any programs that are considered PUPs or are a rogue program. You can google the programs name along with "Should I remove it" and see what the program is and if you should remove it or not. Revo Uninstaller is really good at removing programs and digging deep to delete all traces. If you are infected this is probably the best thing to do so that you remove and registry entries created by a bad program.

Once you're finished, go back to Internet Options and uncheck proxy settings (if its still checked). Go to Advanced tab and click Restore Advanced Settings

Other things you may want to do:
Check Search Engines in all browsers, delete any search hijackers
Check Add-ons/Extensions in all browsers and delete/disable any adware or toolbars
Restore any home pages that may have been hijacked as well.

If this doesn't solve your problem report back and we can try running some other programs to try and fix it.
