I recently upgraded our Xfinity Internet speed to 200 Mbps, and the results on my wired desktop are impressive, typically around 250 Mbps download speed. In checking the other desktop computer in the same room with a wireless connection, however, the difference was definitely startling. The wireless download speed hovered around 20 Mbps! I know wireless is slower than an ethernet connection, but this difference is pretty unbelievable. I ran the same test on a Win 10 laptop in the same room also wireless. Speed was better, around 40-50 Mbps, but that's still a huge drop from the hard wired computer's results. Is this spread normal? BTW, the wireless computers don't "seem" slow in their Internet use.

Thanks for any thoughts!

The wireless speed can be faster than the ethernet the new AC wireless can run up to3 gigs. your wireless speed will be due to old hardware g type routers and cards run about 20 meg, n type can in theory do 300 meg but 50 meg is normal What type is your current router and what are your wireless cards type.

Get a new AC router and cards and it will fly AC cards are cheap now

Thank you for the replies. We use Xfinity's modem-router, latest model, but the fault may be the wireless cards. Thank you for the help!
