Internet stops at 7pm daily

Every day for the past few days my internet has been cutting out at 7pm. I am on an exchange in France and my host brother had previously been giving out to me for being on skype too long as it was delaying his xbox live but recently my internet has been cutting out at 7pm saying ''no internet access'', the time he usually goes to play and I'm not too sure when it comes back. The only thing I know about it coming back is that one night I stayed up to see if the internet came back when he was finished but i fell asleep and when i woke up at four in the morning the internet was back fully working and he was asleep. When I run the trouble shooter it says ''the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken'' and have googled this and tried everything. If someone could please help me it would be greatly appreciated as i have no way of contacting my friends and family Monday to Friday. Thanks

It sounds like someone in the host family has set the router to cut you off around 7pm. It would be best to ask them if that is the case.

But thats my problem they are convinced that its my laptop and phone that is wrong and my host brother would never own up to it if it meant his connection is lagged.

on my router hub settings i can select one of the connected computers and set a time period to block it, you set the time it goes off and the time it goes on, sounds to me like this is what is happening. as the other boy is able to connect with his xbox, as his parents if they can check the settings on the router to see if there is a timeout set for your laptop.

you may have to just send emails during the periods it is up , as its an exchange you will be home soon.

thanks for your reply. On the router the only buttons that are on it are to turn off the wifi and reboot so if it is been set up to cut out then it was done from a computer not the router itself

If the router is setup to not let you online at time - then yes, that setup was done by surfing to the router's interface via a web browser - not the router's front panel.

It is very unlikely that both your computer and your phone would lose their connection to the internet at the same time each night.... and most any adult would know this (even if they are not very tech savvy). This could mean that the adult(s) in the home agree with the boy's action to cut you off from the internet at times.

This is one of those situations where it is best to work it out among the humans instead of going around the equipment. There are ways to get around the router's settings, but this could make things worse between you and your host family. Maybe you could ask an adult in the host family to read this thread.

Thanks for your help. I think he was disconnecting me even though he hasnt owned up to it after i really brought him up on it my unternet came back five minutes later. thanks again
