Intuos 4 + Windows 7 = USB device not recognized

Please tell me if this is not the right sub-forum.

I've been encountering error Code 43.
I've tried a lot and I am running out of options.

I'm working on an Acer Aspire 5542G.
My operating system is Windows 7.
The USB device not being recognized is my Wacom Intuos 4 PTK.

- I've de-installed and re-installed my tablet driver.
- I've shut down and turned on the laptop.
- I've returned the laptop to original factory settings.
- I've taken the battery out, and put it back in again.
- I've de-installed and re-installed universal serial bus controllers.
- I've used CCleaner to clear up my register.
- I've used my google-fu to it's full extent, but I haven't found a fix.

If someone could help me, that would be great.

Anything will do.

If anybody has any clue of how to even get a TEMPORARY fix, I would appreciate it! I will try anything.

well it looks like you might have a problem with the device?
here is a quote from the Wacom Technology - Intuos4 Small page under system requirments
Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (SP2+), Mac OS X 10.4.8+. Note: Also requires color display, powered USB port, CD/DVD drive, and broadband Internet connection to download bundled software.

now im curios, (reaching out to other members) about the powered USB port, in reality all usb ports are powered -5v +d -d +5v. did this device work before? does it use an external power supply of some sort? or batteries?

It worked perfectly fine before.
The only thing I could think of that changed was that I installed the latest Windows update.

It is just like... a mouse, really.
You plug it in, and with the driver installed, it just uses the power from the laptop.
I´ve only had this laptop for 2 months or so, it never gave me trouble before.
Then some day last week, it just started telling me the device was not recognized and that was that.
Hasn´t worked since. :(

to me right now its sounding like a problem with the usb ports on the laptop or with the device.
if you plug something else into the usb port on your laptop, like a flash drive, does it have the same problem?
if so then your usb hub/ports are messed up. with the laptop only being 2 months you should still be covered by waranty.

I don't really have any other USB devices I use.
The only thing I can think of is my mobile phone; I recharge it with my laptop sometimes.
I did that yesterday, and it recharged the battery just fine.

it will power you phone becouse the usb ports is still giving off +5volts and -5volts, what i am woried about is the fact that the +data and -data is not working. also mybe you could move your thread(or start a new one) in the hardware and devices section:
Hardware & Devices - Windows 7 Forums
I will receive more atention there, or maby a mod will able to move it?

I'll make a new thread in that forum then.
Maybe someone will know a fix.
