I'm installing the student 64 HP upgrade version, on a clean install, I've inputted both the key that came with the download and my old XP 32 bit product key. None are working. Is there anything I can do? The correct department that deal with this aren't open until monday...

Follow this to the part where they show you how to get your product key working

Thanks but I can't do any of that since this is a fresh install on a formatted hard drive, so I can't get into xp or win7. Do I need to first reinstall xp to get this working?

Here is the workaround to clean install Win7 upgrade to a new HDD. This is the same workaround being given out by MS tech support.

http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp

The other way to do it is to install without key, then run an Upgrade install over the new install from the desktop. Same results: it takes key the second time and activates when it gets online.
