Solved Invalid Window Handle

I have win 7 home premium 64 bit 8GB Ram desktop with 2 x 1TB HDDs. I had downloaded Win 10 then gone back to Win 7 and got an error message (0x80041321) when I tried to do a backup to my D drive? I checked on this site and found a repair download that fixed 63 problems and left 32,that couldnt be fixed. So ran sfc/scannow but it didnt find anything? So I tried backup again and got (Invalid Window Handle)? So thats where Im at right now! Any ideas how I can fix it? I should mention that I changed the name of my computer after a complete reinstall a few months ago and had trouble moving my files across with the old name on them. P.S I just tried to backup my system settings and recovery partition but that failed as well?

Hello RR mate how or what did you do before you did that reinstall because I found the only way to shy clear of problems going back from 10 to 7 was to wipe the drive using the clean all command in DISKPART.

Yours is one of many folks who have done this and are now having grief like this.

I had a virus or something that I couldnt fix and the registry was wrecked,it couldve been from my mis-use of CCcleaner,Im not sure? But the re-install fixed it and it wasnt until months later that I tried Win 10,didnt like it and went back to good ol Win 7 that this particular problem has appeared.I have the changes made on CCcleaner saved to documents,should I try to put them back and see what happens? I right clicked on the saved CCcleaner file and it says Merge! Should I click on that? P.S The file contains 249kb of registration entries!

Mate if you are meaning merge the reg files back that were removed during this install then yes but if the saved reg entries were from the first install (before trying 10) then they will not have any bearing on what you have now.

I replaced the CCcleaner file but it still doesnt work? Ive changed my computer name at last reinstall and I have one 69GB backup for the new name Ross,s computer.the old name is Blueys computer,sometimes it shows the backups and not at other times?

Now that drive looks awfully full can you post a picture of Disk management in the Device Manager please? because out of a 1TB drive there is not much space left and I am wondering why.

There are a heap of backups on the old Blueys computer name but I cant delete them because they wont show up when I try to delete them? Ive gone to device manager but cant find what your asking for? Ive got 187GB of space left. How do I wipe it and start again? This sort of thing confuses the hell out of me.lol

Ok do this go to Start > right click Computer > then click Manage > then click Disk management it will open a window like in my pic so see what I have put in the pic. Let us know what you find in the partition/s on that drive.

Ok mate now what did you find in that C: partition? and one more thing you can do to see how much disk space is being used is to - Start > Computer > right click that C: drive > click Properties and you should get a window come up like in my pic.
Now I am going off line in a minute as I worked last night and today has been hectic and I have to get some shuteye but am back on tomorrow. See the pic for the desktop icons you really don't need as some are duplicated on the taskbar.

It looks like my last post never arrived? Ah Well! How can I reformat this drive and start again? I looked on YouTube on how to do it with Diskpart but thats too complicated for me putting in all those commands,I wouldnt know where I was. lol

Ok mate just very slowly follow this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html it isn't as hard as it looks you need a machine that you can hook the drive up to to run the clean all and there USB to drive adaptors to do that - the drive to be cleaned showing up a an external and given a number in DISKPART. see pic of the adaptor there are many variations but they are not expensive. It themachine you sue is a desktop then you can just hook the drive in using a spare SATA socket.

Am alternative is wipe with this Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free just run it and pick the drive and right click it and choose wipe - it will fill the drive with zeros.

I might have a virus? I have Microsoft security essentials,a few hours ago a message popped up saying they (Microsoft are interested in a file that maybe a virus on my computer and asked me to send them the details) I have been trying to download Microsoft Fixit repair etc.. but I get a message saying there is something wrong with my internet connection! But theres nothing wrong with it? Ive run AVG free,Spybot,etc,they didnt find anything? Should I wait for Microsoft to respond or go ahead and wipe the drive? Ive got 380GB free on the drive now.

Now funny you say that but I had a similar issue on a fix the other day with MSE so before you do anything else run these if I have not asked before

I downloaded and scanned with Superantispyware,it found 252 Adwares. Malwarebytes found 6 Adwares and 1 registry thing? Adware Cleaner found vToolbaruploader40.1.8. Its one of those things you have to tick off or your stuck with Bing or something? I think Microsoft might have fixed this in the background after I sent them the details of that file! What do you think because I didnt find any malware? I restarted windows after the scannes and it did the backup no problems,although I was wincing a bit towards the end.lol Thanks a heap anyway youve been a great help and I appreciate it mate.

Yep well there is more if you want to get the best out of your 7 machines this is my bible

A couple of things I run all the time now on all my machines are these if you want to stay clear of the 10 stuff

the batch file for disable the upgrade from this one Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums

and this to keep it clear Ultimate Outsider - Software Downloads I run this one just about everyday once set up all you need to clear stuff is use the button in my pic but only download the GWX CP software

To be extra careful I set updates to what is in my pic in fact I downlaod very few updates now unless it is a fresh install and then I make a special effort to Hide KB3035533 - the 10 upgrade one.
