Solved iphone reset

So this is "off topic". I loaded ios 8 on a iphone 4s, and is running like crap. Anyone know if a reset of the phone, which there is a button for in settings, will make phone like new, outta the box? Guy from at&t seemed to think so. That would be the only way I would feel comfortable, trying. Not about to figure out how to download some operating system, and then "hope" it'll work. Thx for any help. DM

My girlfriend's iPad Mini was showing the same as your phone, I managed to get it running a bit faster by going to settings>general>reset all settings, it rebooted and nothing was lost apart from background wallpaper and login information, I'd give that a try.

The other method will reset your phone to factory defaults with iOS8 installed.

Thank you for the link! I'm at least going to download the firmware for this and have it. I see the guy is using a mac to do this. I'd have to use windows 7. I'm leary as heck doing it with the itunes compatible for windows, for I've had it hang up before. Hate that to be the cause of my 4s turning to a brick. I may just do a reset, to get it back to like outta the box and see if there may be some apps on it, that is making it glitchy. I'm upgrading to the 6, but giving my young 12 yr old son this phone. Hate to hand him over something that ain't quite right. I may save up some coin, and then attempt to flash it back to the older os. Then if I brick it, I'll pitch it and get him something better. ITunes will work fine on windows 7 for the task at hand,
ios8 has not been released to the public yet or at least I see no signs of it being offered on mine,

In anyone's opinion, should I do a reset of phone 1st, then attempt to load the os7 firmware, or just load it as is? I want the lesser of chances to brick my phone. Thank you, DM

Follow the instructions and no bricks,
You can try reset but I believe it will as already posted will just reset it won't uninstall the ios if you ask Apple

rodger. I wonder how long it takes for this procedure? Large file! My luck my PC power will drop off during. Hehehe. I'm a worry wart!

Turn off sleep :/
ios usually only takes a few minutes depending on internet speed of course
I get the murphy's law thing
Reset should be harmless but I feel Apple wasn't lying to me but it could of gone public at the time so that would of explained it ?

Better hurry though Apple doesn't wait long before going public

it is a 1.2 gig file. Already downloaded to pc

I don't think your 4 qualifies Mike.

I am curious about the OP rolling back, mine is acting a little "choppy" but I don't think I'll bother with rolling back.

I am curious about the OP rolling back, mine is acting a little "choppy" but I don't think I'll bother with rolling back.

Mine is chopy, runs hotter, battery life has reduced, most apps don't work correctly. My at/t dude told me, "os8 not designed for the 4s. Lesser of a processor. It just can't handle the new software". I'm rolling back. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks, it probably shouldn't have been released to 4S but now that it is, they should do something about the problems. We'll see what happens.

7 was buggy enough but finally got better this is when I was going to reset

ok, so I restored phone to the os7! Very happy. Now, if I were to go to icloud, could I restore what was the ios8 junk to this os7, as I only want my contacts....or just leave well enough alone, as I'm only awaiting my new 6. I don't wanna screw this up. plz advise

Yes I am, but it could be 2-3 wks for 6 to arrive....backordered. It be handy to have my contacts restored, but Apple advised not to attempt to restore the icloud info on this fresh 7. I will wait. Thx DM
