(before the virus my ipod connected perfectly with my computer without any problems)

first off you may want to contact apple support for ipod help
depending what version of ipod you have it can be impossable to copy files off the device but assumeing you have a version that supports this look at the connected devices screen in computer and see if the drive shows up there if not go into the devices section of the control panel and if it shows up there that means itunes is being the manger for this device insted of windows.

if you can still use itunes to connect to your ipod then theres realy not that big of an issue but if it connects shows up and then disconects and is unaccesable then the most logical reson for that is a short in the usb cable( if the positve and negitve terminals are crossed windows will disable that port automaticly) so i would look at the condition of your cable if theres any pinches exsposed wireing or its warped(spirels by it's self)then that is most likely the problem

I would suggest uninstalling Itunes and installing a fresh copy of it. I was recently having problem with my Ipod Touch. Everytime I would connect my Ipod it would freeze Itunes. When I would disconnect it Itunes would work perfectly instantly. I reinstalled Itunes and the problem was fixed. Give it a go anyway. Just be careful with what you do because Itunes has a nasty habit of wiping your music if it thinks your trying to sync with another computer or anything like that.

Are you talking about an IPOD Touch? Is your Ipod Jailbroken? If it is maybe that has something to do with it. If it isn't then what's the problem? The only thing I can do from "My Computer" to my Ipod is look at the pictures, I can't add music, movies, films or anything else.

Other then that, I'm sorry I don't really know what else to suggest. The fact that the problem still persists after a fresh install of iTunes hints that it's either a problem with your PC/MAC or your iPod itself.

if it's still connected to iTunes and lost from my computer, you might have a cable issue. Did u try with another one?
