iPod: Windows 7 Always wants to fix?

Hey folks,

Everytime I plug in my ipod Windows 7 says it has problems and do i want to scan and fix. Of course, the iPod works fine and doesn't say that plugged into any other computer, so i always say no and everything is kosher.

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this and also if anyone knows of a way to stop it from happening?

I had this same problem when I was running Vista about a year and a half ago. I just kept saying don't scan and it worked fine. It seems to do that a lot with removable media, even a flash drive did that.

What exactly is it scanning and fixing? I have the same issue, and press don't fix.

For me rddash's fix did work for a while but I have recently been required to go through the process again, which is irritating. Any more permanent ways of stopping this message?

this is something that is caused when a device is just pulled out from the computer without beign safely removed through windows first. I did have a program which i programmed through college which would solve this problem as it is the FAT tables which become corrupt causing an error message. The reason why it is scanning is because it picks up that the tables could be corrupt. Fixing them wellt hats obvious, but if the device is just pulled out of the computer with safely removing it first, then this problem will persist. Any more guidance needed let me know, as I'm more than happy to help

I had the same problem, with my ipod sometimes refusing to connect, and good ol Windows 7 kept asking if it could have a shot at fixing it. My iPod was about 50% success at connecting without needing to restart it and try reconnecting, so I decided to let windows try and find a problem, why not. Well... it fixed the problem of my iPod's connection issues, but in doing so put all of my music in some sort of "invisible" folder. iTunes shows 55.4 GB of "other" on the iPod, but cannot access any of it. In addition, opening it up in explorer with "show hidden folders and files" selected yields no results at all! Clearly my music is still there as per the 55.4 GB of other on my 80 GB. Does anyone know anything about this! I reeeeeeeeeally dont want to lose all of my music
